Basicly if you want to add something you need to compile (some versions also have some sorts of installers). Well, it's very much an operating system combined with lots of programming .. so if you don't know any programming language (or want to learn) you should really stick to Windows or something similar. Well, unles you want to use just what comes with the default version and accesible under the windows-like interface .. which usually is something like 1% of it's full capabilities ..
Oh, yeah, and Linux is usually used for server side/tcp-ip aplications, so if you want to use office applications, games or things like that (which most people do) it's not exactly the best choice. |
