The WA game and this thread are always saying there are new posts but there aren't.

A post that you didn't read might be on a page you missed although you read perhaps the last page of the topic, or a post was deleted meanwhile. Anyway, you can use the " Mark all forums as read" link from the main page of forums to fix that.

Three pages more for WAG and it will catch up with the oft-derailed Pics and Porttraits topic.  Woo!

I'm taking metalsmithing next semester to balance out my three labs.
Maybe I'll be able to make my own armor, or at the very least, doodads for my own armor.

Oooo, armor.

I'm buying my sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law a sword for their wedding present. *snicker*  Just because I refuse to give useful gifts...I'm still trying to decide between one of the random swords in the knife shop, or one of the ones from lord of the rings.

If you're going to give someone a sword, it ought to be a decent blade.

Aye, all too often, peopel buy the completely crappy replica stuff made for the drooling mouth breathing ignorant masses.

Try looking at Ritter steel, if they are still around, or one of Paul Chen's works.

Also, there are many small weapons smiths around who actually make decent, to good quality work at a decent price. unless of course you are a collector of actual weapons from prior times. So far, I have an inglish Cavalry Saber from India, and I've been striving like mad to find a small Shin-gunto from WW2 Japan.

Find your local SCA kingdom/shire/dukedom.  They'll know where to get good blades
