I don't pay attention to politics, other than to pity our poor prime minister who doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

And I purposefully left out the mounties.  They don't really have that much of a presence, actually.  I mean...I live in the same area as the ONLY training academy for mounties in ALL OF CANADA...and the last time I saw a mountie in person was last rememberance day. So just seven days under a year ago.

America had a crappy army during the War of 1812.

Need I remind you that Canada fell during the Revolutionary War?

The Seven Year's War too.

So nyah!

But we scared off one of America's warships with a bunch of canoes!  No matter that it was almost two hundred years ago and the power between navies has since switched sides!  It still rocks!

...

Heehee, yeah, I didn't pay much attention to the 'wars' section of my history except for that little tidbit about the war of 1812...

America's navy at the time was decimated by the British, who were capturing american sailors, and impressing them to naval duty for British man-owars....in 1812, the Man-oWar was the most horrifying and powerful warship to be built, and was the scourge of anything that stood before it. America was getting pissed because it's huge shipping interests were being crushed by British naval ambition. So, they declared war. Probably the major reason America tried to invade Canada was because of lumber and ship building, as well as other supplies. Anyway...it was the same war in which the Biritish burned Washington D.C. to the ground.

EDIT: For Clarity

Actually America didn't have a navy to speak of.

The impressments were mostly merchant ships. Sooo... yeah.

And Arota... it was a land invasion...
