I think it's Linux...and that's the thing with the penguin, right? If not, ignore me.

yes linux... and its like... a computer operatering system... and its giving me a headache... it doesn't support java gah!
Poted by Arynn on 23 Nov 2005 01:08 -
Probably does and you're just not quick enough to figure it out?

You may want to search around for a browser, and find also the Java version for Linux/Unix. Frankly, if you dunno how to work it, you probably shouldn't use it.

Aye, its spelled Linux. And yes it does support java. Just gotta be smart enough on how to use it right. Its a bit tricky....

Under linux there is no such thing as "doesn't support" or "doesn't have installed'. Basicly if you want to add something you need to compile (some versions also have some sorts of installers). Well, it's very much an operating system combined with lots of programming .. so if you don't know any programming language (or want to learn) you should really stick to Windows or something similar. Well, unles you want to use just what comes with the default version and accesible under the windows-like interface .. which usually is something like 1% of it's full capabilities ..

Oh, yeah, and Linux is usually used for server side/tcp-ip aplications, so if you want to use office applications, games or things like that (which most people do) it's not exactly the best choice.

...In other words, if you aren't a techie, you shouldn't proably use Linux too much.

Though, there are some who swear by it...

Yep, also helps if your  building your own computer... Good for programming.

...My sister's trying to talk me into putting linux on my computer.  I'm busy telling her to shove it, because I know for a fact that (a) I won't be able to use it correctly, and (b) the greater majority of my games, which, in total, are worth a fair penny, won't work on linux.

Though I would much prefer to not have to use windows.

Well, I am pretty much a programmer, don't really play windows games so would have quite all reasons to choose Linux and still I don't because the graphical interface usually sucks and to be honest, doing most of the things through commands .. sucks.
