ANNOUNCE NEWS #482
Date: 12/27/2005 at 20:38
From: Belakai, the Shaper
To  : Everyone
Subj: January's artisanal

I just figured I'd let you know in advance: The theme for January's Artisanals will be maps of Aetolia. The best maps, both picturesque and practical will win the Artisanal prizes. In addition, if we use your map on the website, you will get an honour line indicating your prowess as a Cartographer.

This is the one exception where I will allow previous maps that did not win a prize and that were not already put on the website to re-enter the Artisanal contest.

Note that 'normal' artisanals (pictures of people, etc.) will not win January's round, so you are best advised to submit them for December or wait until February. Also note that you still can only submit one entry for January.

Well, Arota (and the rest of the family mappers), I think this should be a nice opportunity for you
Poted by Arota on 28 Dec 2005 16:52 -
Heh.  I just have to pick out a map to submit, now.  I think I might go for my Dun and Arurer map...though Torston and Asper are tempting, too.  Suggestions?
Poted by Indiana on 28 Dec 2005 19:26 -
If you ask me all of them are good ... especially the continent map which is far more useful than any other I've seen so far.
Poted by Broly on 28 Dec 2005 20:12 -
I like the tundra one. And Dun. If you can somehow put Asper on the tundra map, even better.
Poted by Arota on 29 Dec 2005 18:35 -
Mmm, I snagged part of the Tundra map from someone else, though, so I won't be submitting it.  Yes, I had to use part of someone elses map.  I'm not so super at finding my way through mazes...
Poted by Arota on 29 Dec 2005 22:34 -
And speaking of maps...All my maps have been re-done so that they have keys as to what the 'pretty colours' stand for.  Except for a few, like the sewers, Mor, and Tundra, which are all one terrain type and thus have no variation in colour.  There's also a few new ones kicking around...Including a Hashan one that has the new comm shop AND the shady man's shop marked on it.

Woo!

...

Now if only I could read a map...

Oh yeah, don't forget to map the new novice area near Siroccians .. forgot how it's called .. anyway, southish then NW-ish from Tordahl.
Poted by Arota on 30 Dec 2005 20:38 -
Say whaaaa?  There's a new novice area?!  Dammit.  Now I need to make an alt to map it...*mutter*  Eh, I suppose it was inevitable...Minia needs to be re-mapped, anywho.
Poted by Broly on 30 Dec 2005 20:47 -
It's not a novice area, just low-level. You don't have to make an alt.
Poted by Arota on 30 Dec 2005 21:01 -
Meh, Minia does need to be remapped.  So, time for an Atavian alt, so I can fly around without getting hurt...
Poted by Indiana on 30 Dec 2005 21:26 -
There's nothing aggro and everything dies in one hit *shrug* Oh well ...
Poted by Arota on 31 Dec 2005 17:35 -
...How long since you've been a novice?  Because I swear, the last time I was one, there were aggro vines on the river in Minia.
Poted by Broly on 31 Dec 2005 19:33 -
There are aggro vines in minia, but i think he was refering to the new area.
Poted by Indiana on 31 Dec 2005 20:14 -
Well, it's been like two (real) years since I've been to Minia and only then I explored the mines (in Achaea), didn't find anything useful, sticked to Lodi .. my first 21 levels went in less than a day in Aetolia anyway.
Poted by Arota on 31 Dec 2005 20:26 -
Yeah, I know the feeling.  I can get a novice up to level 21 in one realtime day, too...makes it sort of weird when I have a page for over a year whose only requirement left for squirehood is reaching level 21, and they're having trouble with it. O.o  But I made it a point to explore all of the newbie areas when I was still able to get in, so I could get my explorer ranking for them.
Poted by Avian on 01 Jan 2006 08:12 -
Oh Rahveir?

That place is stupid.

Everything dies in less than two mauls.

And I couldn't figure out how to banish Gyllia (the evil spirit) so I killed the lighters instead.

Waste of time.

Got 400 gold though.
Poted by Indiana on 01 Jan 2006 09:40 -
Two mauls? I can't even get one DSL, they die from first hit
Poted by Avian on 01 Jan 2006 18:36 -
Yeah, you and your stupid atom-splitting axes.
Poted by Arota on 01 Jan 2006 21:21 -
...*cough* They, um, died in one hit for me too.  And how the heck did you get 500 gold from killing those useless things, Avian?
Poted by Avian on 03 Jan 2006 00:58 -
I killed the lighters
Poted by Arota on 03 Jan 2006 17:16 -
...doesn't help me.  Do they give you gold when they die, or do you give them to someone?
Poted by Avian on 04 Jan 2006 02:48 -
The dying corpse of Teriam gives you 400 gold.

*eyeshift*

No, give them to Gyllia.
Poted by Arota on 04 Jan 2006 15:19 -
Ah.  That ghost that doesn't like me. *eyeshift*
Poted by Indiana on 05 Jan 2006 12:10 -
Someone submit that as a quest? Same for any other quests you find
Poted by Arota on 05 Jan 2006 16:39 -
Make Avian do it, since I had to pull each step out of him...*mutter*  *eye Avian*
Poted by Avian on 05 Jan 2006 18:02 -
Plead the Fifth.
Poted by Arota on 05 Jan 2006 23:31 -
I updated my continent map to include the dolbodi campsite, but it is entirely not my fault that it isn't showing up. *eye Indiana*  I thought you fixed that bug.
Poted by Indiana on 06 Jan 2006 06:49 -
I actually did .. I am not sure why that happened .. stupid server configuration, works fine on my computer, I'll try to see if I can make it work .. again.

Hmm, ok fixed that .. hopefully ...
Poted by Broly on 06 Jan 2006 12:05 -
Nope, i can't see it.
Poted by Indiana on 06 Jan 2006 14:37 -
She has to upload it (again) first.
Poted by Arota on 10 Jan 2006 18:51 -
Dun Valley and Arurer Haven was the map I decided to submit for the artisanal contest...we'll see how it does.
